What is a Quality Assurance Manager?
Target Jobs states that, “Quality assurance managers work with other staff to establish procedures and quality standards and to monitor these against agreed targets.” They ensure that products and services meet customer expectations before the products go out to market. This role is concerned with monitoring and advising on the performance quality management system, producing data and reporting on performance, and measuring against set standards. Quality Assurance Managers will need to understand the marketplace, aspects of the product and service that are relevant to the customer, and how this impacts the supply chain, all while ensuring costs are managed within the budget of the business.
Glassdoor reports that the median annual salary for a Quality Assurance Manager is $91,349. The salary can vary widely depending on a variety of factors including the industry, geographic location, etc.
How can I become a Quality Assurance Manger?
To be a Quality Assurance Manager, you need to have excellent analytical skills and be an effective communicator with all levels of staff. You must be able to interpret statistical data using software and be familiar with methodologies, tools, and concepts in quality management. Managers working in manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, food processing, or construction will need strong technical skills relevant to those fields. According to Monster.com, skills and experience working in Linux, Software Test, Oracle, and Test Automation are often highly desired.
What is the outlook for Quality Assurance Mangers?
Quality Management is an integral role in the overall supply chain. As companies continue to grow and expand their product lines, Quality Assurance Manager roles are growing in demand. Quality control and assurance is playing an increasingly important role demonstrating a company’s competitiveness.
