In the IT industry, having the right certification is key. While preparation can be daunting and feel as though it’s never ending, it is certainly a career move that brings with it countless benefits. As a certified IT professional, you not only help to strengthen your organization’s credibility, but can offer quality assurance to clients. Based on the 2014 IT Skills and Salary Survey, conducted by New York- based Global Knowledge, obtaining a Citrix Certified Enterprise Engineer for Virtualization (CCEE) earned a spot at number seven as one of the 15 top-paying certifications of 2014. And aside from IT, CCEE certified professionals thrive in other industries including education, transportation, manufacturing, and many more.
Citrix Certification Program
The Citrix certification program is organized into three levels, based on job roles: Administrator, Engineer, and Architect. The engineer series of the Citrix program, designed especially for experienced professionals, certifies the skills and knowledge required for planning, integrating, and executing a large virtualization infrastructure. Engineers who hold a CCEE have the proven abilities to build optimal Citrix environments that include datacenters, private clouds, and desktops. Aligned with current industry trends, the CCEE addresses security and workplace mobility issues through technologies that deliver applications and desktops on demand and seamlessly integrate with any user device.
Current Updates to the CCEE Certification
As business and IT landscapes have changed significantly since the CCEE for Virtualization certification was introduced in 2010, a new solution-based certification was introduced in 2013 to better address the evolving needs of businesses and IT professionals. The CCEE for Virtualization certification will be retired on November 28, 2014 and will no longer be attainable; Citrix recommends pursing the new equivalent Virtualization certification, CCP-V. The Citrix Certified Professional- Virtualization certification validates the skills experienced IT solution builders, such as engineers and consultants, need to install, configure and roll out common XenDesktop 7 solutions. Prior to November, updating your CCEE certification can easily bedone with one exam while the update paths are still available, but once the paths expire, multiple exams will be required to obtain certification.
Steps to CCEE (CCP-V) Certification
The exam is 240 minutes and is divided into three sections:
If you are in the process of receiving your CCEE, you can continue the certification. Once certified, you will be eligible to transition to the Virtualization certifications using the update path, detailed above, while it is available. If you were recently awarded with a CCEE, your certification will remain valid for three years from date obtained.
According the survey done by Global Knowledge, the average Citrix Enterprise Engineer earns $104,240 a year. There is an increasing demand for certified Citrix Engineers and because they can address many of the current and pressing needs of the IT industry, a CCEE certification can definitely boost your career and increase your value among employers!
