Veteran Owned Business York Solutions co-sponsors Veteran Career Summit

For the second consecutive year, York Solutions – a NVBDC certified veteran-owned business, is sponsoring and participating in the Veteran Career Summit to help companies develop, grow, and enhance their veteran workplace initiatives.

As a veteran-owned business, certified by the National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC), York Solutions is dedicated to helping companies close the skills gap by integrating veterans into the civilian workforce.

The program that York Solutions developed to fulfill this goal is the Barriers to Entry (B2E) program, which focuses on helping individuals from under-represented demographics like veterans or stay-at-home-parents break through barriers as they look to re-enter the workforce, while simultaneously helping companies find highly-skilled talent to drive business success.

“The Barriers to Entry Program was designed out of a very specific need in the workforce: many companies are struggling to find highly-skilled talent to complete their IT projects on time. This program provides them access to an untapped pool of talent while also allowing them to diversify their team,” said Brandi Will, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Veteran Programs at veteran-owned IT consulting firm York Solutions.

Will is slated to moderate the panel, The VOSB/VOB Designation: Why hire a VOSB/VOB and what is a Veteran Business Owners’ obligation to the workforce and share her experience and insights.

Her colleague Silvia Hinton, Vice President of Program Development – B2E will discuss York Solutions’ nationally recognized returnship program, Barriers to Entry, in detail in the panel Innovative Programs to Find, Hire, Train, and Manage a Veteran Workforce. “Veterans possess specific traits that are major assets to the workforce – proficient team players, dedicated workers, calm when under pressure and entrenched loyalty are just a few examples,” said Hinton.

The event is taking place Thursday, July 11, at mHUB Chicago from 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Additional sponsors this year include Exegistics and the ICATT Apprenticeship Program. The event is open to the public and media is welcome to attend.
