As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, we all find ourselves reflecting on the past year and thinking about what we are most thankful for having in our lives. Our family, friends, pets, careers, and health are just a few common things we often think of, but something that might be overlooked is the technology that gets us through our daily lives – both in and out of the office.

Everyone uses some form of technology at work. It’s hard to imagine how our lives would be without smartphones, email, social media, the cloud, the ability to work remotely, etc. So, let’s take some time to show our gratitude to the technology that makes all of our days easier.

Smartphones

More commonly referred to as smartphones, cellphones have rapidly evolved over the last decade and the power within these devices is remarkable. The name says it all; they’re smart devices! Smartphones allow us to be very well-connected with the world around us, no matter our location. We’ve almost become reliant on this technology as many people use their smartphones to start their day, respond to work emails, chat with friends and family, etc.

Remote Access

The modern workplace is evolving, too, as technological enhancements provide employees with the opportunity to complete their job responsibilities from remote locations. Global Workplace Analytics reported that about 2.8% of employees work from home about half the time, and an even greater number has the opportunity to work outside of the office. Working remotely can also better an employee’s work-life balance, which is something everyone can be thankful for.

Cloud Services

Cloud services help employees to work remotely as you can download certain information and documents without having to be at your desk. As long as you have internet access, you can access any files that are already saved in the cloud to continue working on at a later time or location.

Among many others, these are just a few technologies that we are all thankful for, even if we aren’t fully aware of it. We can all agree that our everyday lives would be quite different if we didn’t have these technologies available to us, so as you find yourself sitting at the dinner table this Thanksgiving, remember to give a shout-out to technology. We wouldn’t be where we are today without it.

From all of us here at York Solutions, Happy Thanksgiving!
