Some description

Team, how would you define the term team? Here at York Solutions, we are proud to have such valuable team players who make our company culture rich and unique, and also add to the impact of our organization. This month meet our loyal team player, Jaclyn Roman, Coordinator, Marketing and Think IT Programs, and get a glimpse of her professional evolution and find out why she enjoys coming to work every day!

Can you tell us a little bit about your role?

I’m the Coordinator, Marketing and Think IT Programs for York. My main responsibilities support the operation of York’s professional development program, Think IT, such as managing the application process, adding new members, event preparation, mentorship program, etc. I also assist with York’s other marketing efforts.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from a small, private school, Aurora University with my Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Psychology.

What drew you to York Solutions?

I started with York after graduating from college as a temp. When offered the opportunity to continue working here, I gladly accepted! Our leadership team truly cares about each employee and wants to help you achieve your professional goals. York is a very unique organization, and I knew this was where I could see myself grow.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since working here?

This is my first role since graduation and I have definitely learned a lot: the corporate atmosphere, IT staffing industry, marketing, professional development, program management, and the list goes on. I know that there are many things I have yet to learn, but I’m proud of myself for growing as much as I have in my couple of years here!

Why do you like coming to work every day?

The culture and our mission are why I love working here. Think IT has had a powerful impact on the IT community in the Twin Cities and now in Chicago. I value being a part of something that has helped so many in their careers.

Who has influenced you the most, either professionally or personally?

My dad has influenced me the most because I’ve grown up watching him achieve anything he set his mind to. He’s shown me what hard work and dedication looks like, and he also has the biggest heart of anyone I know. I can always turn to him for anything I need.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

My husband and I are very close with our family and friends. We spend a lot of time with them, and we’re always planning fun activities!

Do you have a hidden talent or something interesting that most people do not know about you?

I was a dancer growing up, and my high school poms team competed in various state and national competitions.

What is your favorite quote or what motivates you?

“The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.”  – Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

Do you have any book suggestions/professional development/any professional advice you would tell yourself 5 years ago?

I recently began reading Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking and it’s a great read so far! I’d consider myself an introvert, and this book touches on characteristics that I wouldn’t have originally thought to be significant.
