The Certified Information Systems Auditor is a globally recognized certification for Information Systems audit control and security professionals. Attaining this credential is powerful as it is a highly sought after designation and there is a high demand for skilled auditors in the IT industry! What is CISA?

The CISA, Certified Information Systems Auditor, is a professional designation which provides great benefits and increased influence for an individual within their organization. The CISA certification is for those in the IT industry who audit, control, monitor and assess IT and business systems.  The ISACAwebsite states, “The CISA designation is a globally recognized certification for IS audit control, assurance and security professionals. Being CISA-certified showcases your audit experience, skills and knowledge, and demonstrates you are capable to manage vulnerabilities, ensure compliance and institute controls within the enterprise.”

Qualifications to Earn the CISA Credential:

  • Earn a passing score on the CISA exam ($445 for members, $595 for non-members)
  • Adhere to the ISACA Code of Professional Ethics
  • Commit to abide by the CISA Continuing Professional Education Policy
  • Acquire a minimum of 5 years of professional information systems auditing, control or security work experience
  • Comply with Information Systems Auditing Standards

Continuing Education Requirements for CISA program

  • Individuals will be required to earn a minimum of 20 hours annually and 120 hours every 3 years
  • There is an annual fee of $45.00 for an ISACA member and $85 for a non-member

Benefits of CISA Certification

CISA is in increasing demand as business analytics, audit control and security are becoming more prevalent and need people with the qualifications that come along with the CISA certification. This credential was once looked at as a “good to have” qualification for job applicants, and now it is preferred in many job requirements for audit control positions. CISA is looked at to streamline business solutions and identify challenges before they arise. This credential displays trust, value and a competitive advantage to assure IT business clients.  According to a 2014 IT Skills and Salary report by Global Knowledge, CISA is listed as one of the top paying certifications with the average income at $112,040. It sure does pays to be certified in audit control!
