1988: York Solutions Founded
In 1988 Bill Car had a vision to start a company that focused on bringing exceptional technology talent inside Fortune 500 companies. He had started his career doing chemical personnel recruiting and knew he could build a business better than his employer. With long hours and determination, York Solutions was founded.
1994: Richard Walker (Current CEO) Joined
After spending a couple of years getting to know Bill Carr and, periodically consulting for him, Bill called and asked Richard to join York Solutions as a partner and help Bill build the company headquartered in Chicago. The rest is history.
2000: Minnesota Office (Current Headquarters) Opened
As the business grew, so did the presence of York Solutions. With many clients being located in Minneapolis, York Solutions opened up an office in Minnesota. Today, this office houses most of our employees.
2009: ThinkIT Association and Emerging Talent Program (Formerly Barriers to Entry/B2E) Founded
Immediately after the financial crisis in 2008, Richard found an opportunity to connect with CIOs who were in transition. He started networking with them on the golf course. Out of that Think IT was born. York wanted to do more than just help people who were looking for jobs. York wanted to offer true professional development. In that spirit, they organized events and roundtables and developed a variety of training programs. Today, Think IT has over six thousand members on a national basis who are interested in expanding their horizons and collaborating with their peers in the industry.
During that same year, the Emerging Talent program (formerly Barriers to Entry) started. Simply put, Emerging Talent provides the training needed to begin lifelong careers in technology. It changes lives, putting people and their families on a path to livelihood that they might never have dreamed possible.
2010: Link to Leadership launched
This free program aids technology professionals in developing their soft skills, while giving them the opportunity to learn from some of the most senior technology leaders within Think IT.
2021: National Sales Team Formed
As a growing brand, York Solutions formalized their national presence by forming a national sales team devoted to clients outside of Chicago and Minnesota.
2023: Year-End Revenue Doubles Since 2015
York Solutions celebrated in 2023 as their revenue growth doubled in less than ten years.
