WIL Recap: Authentic Leadership

What are your intentions for the day? Last Thursday, at our Women in Leadership Group Meeting, Anne Pryor, MA, and Risë Severson Kasmirski, MA, led an exciting discussion on the topic, Authentic Leadership. They walked us through how we can create soul-filled work through your lifeforce. A huge thank you to Cargill for hosting our group!

What is lifeforce? Lifeforce is the force that gives something its vitality or strength. It’s the spirit or energy that animates living things like the soul. If one learns how to leverage lifeforce, you can create the life you desire. This includes a new mindset engaging the mind and heart, your attitude of generosity with action, and intention of love.

Anne and Risë explained the Lifting Up Leadership Model, which includes mindfulness, awareness, vulnerability, transformation, intent, transcendence, and Lovitude. Once we ground our inner work, we can then work on the environment around us. As a group, we started to breakdown mindfulness.

When you are mindful, you are in a state of presence. Meditation can help with presence. During our meeting, Anne and Risë had us practice medication. Breathing in for three seconds, hold for three, out for three, hold for three. Working on getting to the state between the breaths.

As we get to the state between breaths, we start to access lifeforce. In lifeforce you will first notice, notice the silence, the focus. Next, you will feel, feel the calm, the awareness, the centeredness. Lastly, you will be; this is where spiritual intelligence happens. It’s only in this state where we start to understand what’s truly going on. Once we have access to ourselves, we can see what’s going on around us.

We then shifted from mindfulness to awareness. As you become more self-aware, you start to realize that you can either bring your anger into a room, or you can bring peace.

There are three parts of awareness:

  • Self- Awareness, including your thoughts and feelings
  • Awareness of surroundings, environment & mood
  • Awareness of others – cues

The last part of the Lifting Up Leadership Model that we talked about was LovitudeLovitude is the combination of love and gratitude inspired by Spirit, the highest energy in the Universe. Anne shared Dr. Masaru Emoto’s water experience and how attention, love, and kindness can make a difference when spoken to others. You can learn more about this experiment here.

Change your energy, change your thoughts. You have the choice to set your intentions for the day, how are you going to decide to show up? If you were unable to attend the meeting and are interested in learning more, you can check out the slide deck, here.
